M. Salvietti et al., SURFACE MAGNETISM OF FE ON AG(100) - A HE-ASTERISK SPILL POLARIZED STUDY, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 76, 1995, pp. 677-681
Surface magnetism of 10 ML Fe(100) films grown on Ag(100) at 150 K and
300 K has been studied by Spin Polarized Metastable Deexcitation Spec
troscopy (SPMDS). The data show a negative magnetization of the s-p el
ectrons of iron in the vacuum region at the distances (3-5 A) probed b
y SPMDS. The extreme surface sensitivity of this spectroscopy allows t
o observe the magnetization of silver segregated at the surface of the
film grown at room temperature. Evidence on the correlation between t
he segregation of silver and the iron magnetization is also reported.
