Molecular dynamic (MD) computer simulations are used to investigate th
e stopping of heavy ions in strongly coupled electron plasmas. Our res
ults show, that in this regime collisions between the electrons as wel
l as non-linear screening effects yield at low ion velocities a depend
ence of the stopping power on the ion charge Z which scales like Z(1.4
3) instead of the usual Z(2) In(const/Z)-scaling for weak coupling. Th
is is connected with an enhanced local density of electrons around a h
ighly charged, slow ion.
