S. Hoshuyama et al., ISOLATION OF OBLIGATE AND FACULTATIVE ANAEROBIC-BACTERIA FROM FELINE SUBCUTANEOUS ABSCESSES, Journal of veterinary medical science, 58(3), 1996, pp. 273-274
A total Of 113 specimens collected from purulent skin lesions of house
hold cats was examined bacteriologically. Ninety seven isolates obtain
ed from 74 specimens (65.5%). Of these, 11 specimens (9.7%) contained
obligate anaerobes only, 18 specimens (15.9%) yielded both obligate an
d facultative anaerobes. In the obligate anaerobes detected, genus Fus
obacterium was the most frequently observed and F. nucleatum was most
common species. Pasteurella multocida was the facultative anaerobe whi
ch was most frequently detected.
