MOTIONAL AND STRESSING PHENOMENA IN BALL MILLS

Until now there has been virtually no quantitative information availab le about the motional and stressing phenomena occurring in the grindin g media charges of ball mills. However, the development of grinding ba lls containing instrumentation has now made it possible to make direct measurements of the stressing phenomena and energy distributions in m ills during the grinding process. Appropriate systematic experimental investigations have been carried out at the Berlin Technical Universit y. A general account is given of the results of this work.
