Abstract
An investigation is made of the reasons for failures in ball mills nea r the junction between the mill end wall and the bearing trunnion. The analysis is based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity using the dynamic input pressures obtained from practical ball mills. The i nfluence of the semicone angle of the mill end wall on the strength is also studied.
