Abstract
A water thinnable polyester alkyd resin containing glycerol allyl ethe r (GAE) was synthesized. The influence of the content of GAE for vario us degrees of molecule branching, expressed by the functionality of hy droxylic components, on the properties of the resin and coatings obtai ned from it was studied. It was found that the lacquers obtained from the alkyd resin containing 10-16 wt% GAE exhibit short drying time, go od hardness of coatings, and good water resistance.
