Abstract
We present a CH4 optical sensor using a 1.31 mu m distributed feedback (DFB) InGaAsP laser diode. This sensor uses a new signal processing p roviding auto-calibration to cancel emitter amplitude variations as we ll as changes in the optical transmission not due to the gas and enabl ing to measure the concentration of gases accurately. The realization of a low cost industrial prototype of this methane sensor is reported.
