The dependence of radiation-induced electrical conductivity (RIC) of s
ome polymers on duration of electron-beam irradiation for varying irra
diation temperature, dose rate, and electric field strength was studie
d. Three stages of RIC buildup were found in these polymers: instantan
eous (buildup time t much less than 1 s), fast (t = 1-10 s) and delaye
d (t = 10-1000 s). It was shown that kinetic features of radiation-ind
uced conductivity of polymers cannot be correlated within the framewor
k of the multiple charge trapping model. A conclusion is reached on th
e determining role of molecular mobility in the transport of carriers
generated by ionizing radiation.
