B. Nowakowski et J. Gorecki, NONEQUILIBRIUM VELOCITY DISTRIBUTION OF REACTIVE FOREIGN GAS - SIMULATION AND PHENOMENOLOGY, ACT PHY P B, 27(3), 1996, pp. 795-810
The velocity distribution function of a homogeneous foreign gas reacti
ng with a carrier gas is studied by means of the Monte Carlo simulatio
n and it is calculated using an approximate phenomenological approach
assuming the Maxwellian form of the distribution with nonequilibrium t
emperature. The transition of the system to the hydrodynamic regime is
demonstrated. The effect of the chemical reaction on the distribution
function is presented in terms of decrease in the second and fourth m
oments of the velocity distribution for a wide range of activation ene
rgies and ratios of molecular masses. Good agreement between the resul
ts of Monte Carlo simulations and the approximate calculations is obse
rved.
