Abstract
We report the measurement and analysis of the resistive transitions un der applied magnetic fields for c axis oriented thin films of Y0.6Pr0. 4Ba2Cu3O7 (PYBCO). We estimate the in-plane and out-of-plane coherence lengths to be much larger YBCO. Our data could not be fitted in a sat isfactory way to the 'giant flux-creep' model. We also discuss the cha nge in the superconducting properties of this system as compared to YB CO in terms of the double pair-breaking theory (both for magnetic impu rities and magnetic field) and find it to be insufficient to explain t he observed data. We discuss the large coherence lengths xiab xic in P YBCO in terms of the van-Hove scenario for HTC.
