Abstract
The energy of a point-like vortex is calculated for a layered supercon ductor with weak interlayer Josephson coupling. An energy barrier exis ting near the sample surface is found. The effect of the interlayer Jo sephson coupling on this barrier is considered. Magnetization relaxati on due to thermally activated penetration of point-like vortices is co nsidered. An initial avalanche-type decay of magnetization is predicte d.
