N. Fahmi et Rv. Singh, SYNTHESIS, SCREENING AND STRUCTURAL ELUCIDATION OF FLUOROIMINES AND THEIR PT-II COMPLEXES, Boletin de la Sociedad Chilena de Quimica, 41(1), 1996, pp. 65-69
Fluoro substituted imines ((FN)-N-1 SH) and ((FN)-N-2 SH) have been sy
nthesized from thiosemicarbazide and carbonyl compounds, [2-fluorophen
yl)methanal] and [1-(2-fluorophenyl)ethanone], respectively. Their met
al complexes with the general formulae [Pt((FN)-N-n SH)(2)]Cl-2 and [P
t((FN)-N-n S)(2)] have been isolated. A square-planar environment of t
he ligands around the metal ion has been suggested on the basis of str
uctural units viz., chemical analyses, magnetic measurements, H-1-NMR
and electronic spectra, conductance measurements and molecular weight
determinations. Fluoroimines and their metal complexes were tested aga
inst certain microorganisms to assess their antimicrobial properties a
nd the results are indeed positive.
