Abstract
The interphase properties greatly affect the compressive strength of t hick composite materials. To characterize the interphase properties, a SIEM (Speckle Interferometry with Electron Microscopy) technique is e stablished. Its capability is demonstrated by an application for deter mining the effective Young's modulus of the interphase of a metal matr ix composite SCS-6/Ti-6-4.
