A numerical/experimental method for identification of material paramet
ers of composite materials is proposed in this paper. This method comb
ines experimental techniques for the determination of vibration eigenf
requencies of plates made of composite materials along with a finite e
lement numerical method for the determination of the corresponding num
erical eigenfrequencies. The identification process makes use of optim
ization techniques, through the minimization of an error measurement t
hat estimates the deviation between numerical and experimental eigenva
lues, for a given set of material parameters. The accuracy of the prop
osed technique is discussed through test cases.
