Vi. Metelitsa et al., TROUGH PEAK RATIO IN ASSESSMENT OF ANTIHY PERTENSIVE ACTIVITY OF 3 BETA-ADRENOBLOCKERS BY 24-HOUR BLOOD-PRESSURE MONITORING/, Kardiologia, 35(12), 1995, pp. 22-26
The degree and evenness of antihypertensive effects of beta-adrenobloc
kers bisoprolol, propranolol and metoprolol were investigated by 24-ho
ur blood pressure monitoring in a placebo controlled randomized double
blind study. Bisoprolol produced most pronounced and even (sustained)
antihypertensive effect throughout 24 hours (trough/peak ratio 91.2).
Trough/peak ratio is an independent pharmacodynamic characteristics o
f an antihypetensive agent as this ratio can be unrelated to total mag
nitude of drug effect during period of investigation.
