Abstract
An investigation of a 7.4-m drift tube with four wire field-shaping el ectrodes is reported. The tube is filled with a mixture of 90% Ar + 10 % CO2 under normal conditions. Cosmic rays and the output of a pulsed X-ray source were used in experiments. Optic measurements of the wire displacements caused by electrostatic fields are given.
