The O-alpha-L-Arabinopyranosyl-beta-D-glucopyranosides of linalool, be
nzyl alcohol and 3-methyl-but-2-en-1-ol were isolated from passion fru
it (Passiflora edulis) by adsorption chromatography on XAD-2 resin, th
en further extracted on the same resin after partial enzymic hydrolysi
s and semi-preparative chromatography on RP-18 phase by HPLC. Their st
ructures were identified by H-1 NMR spectroscopy and mass spectral ana
lysis and by methylation analysis of the carbohydrate moieties.
