Abstract
The phospholipid composition of 30 species of brown algae belonging to eight different orders has been analysed by TLC. A new amino acid-con taining phospholipid was detected in members of the orders, Ectocarpal es, Chordariales, Dictyotales, Desmarestiales, Scytosiphonales, Lamina riales and Fucales. The occurrence of this new amino acid-containing p hospholipid has chemotaxonomic value for brown algae.
