Abstract
Mixtures of oxone and sodium chloride or sodium bromide afford solutio ns of chlorine or bromine, respectively. These solutions effectively a dd chlorine and bromine to alpha,beta-enones and alkenes. The method a ffords improved yields of 3-alkyl-2-halo-2-cycloalkenones which are so metimes difficult to prepare. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
