Abstract
A total of 121 representative Escherichia coli 0157:H7 and 0157:NM (no nmotile) isolates were characterized by ribotype, phage type, verotoxi n genotype, and genomic fingerprints generated by pulsed-field gel ele ctrophoresis. Ribotyping was not able to discriminate between 0157:H7 isolates, and phage typing and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis were t he most valuable and discriminatory techniques.
