We consider a scalar field Lagrangian with a self interaction, potenti
al which is similar in spirit to the dilaton field Lagrangian and we i
nvestigate the solitonic solutions of such & potential. The form of th
e potential and the parameter sigma(vac), are in good agreement with t
he values that would reproduce the lattice gauge results, rather accur
ately. Using this, the soliton bag solutions are obtained and the isol
ated hadronic properties are investigated. The calculated values of th
e dimensionless parameter g(A)/g(V) and the bag radius R are found to
agree very well with the experimental values and the hadronic mass is
found to be quite high.
