La. Zhukova et al., MORPHOLOGICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL-CHARACTERISTICS OF ONTOGENY IN POT MARIGOLD (CALENDULA-OFFICINALIS L) PLANTS GROWN AT VARIOUS DENSITIES, Russian journal of ecology, 27(2), 1996, pp. 100-106
Morphological and physiological characteristics of different ontogenet
ic states of pot marigold in populations of different densities are re
vealed. The great intensity of intrapopulational interactions in dense
plantations causes the delayed development of calendula plants, dimin
ution of their size, and a decrease in their vitality level. Decreases
in peroxidase and catalase activities, as compared to their activitie
s in sparse calendula populations, evidence these processes.
