Abstract
An overview of the relation between lipid layer formation and contact lens wear is provided, with particular emphasis on factors that influe nce the delivery and spreading of lipid on the tear film. The disrupti on of the lipid layer by a contact lens is discussed, as well as facto rs that may enhance the stability of the pre-lens tear film lipid laye r.
