Abstract
Kinetics of hydrocortisone and methanol acylation with maleic anhydrid e-vinylpyrrolidone copolymer and of the model reaction of methanol acy lation with succinic anhydride have been studied by IR spectroscopy an d gel permeation chromatography. Reaction catalysis by tertiary amines has a basic rather than a nucleophilic nature. A model is proposed to account for the fact that the maximal conversion of anhydride units i s as low as 30%.
