Abstract
A phenomenological optical potential is constructed by computing a loc al approximation to it by means of dispersion relations. Its short-ran ge, correlation part is also obtained from a generalized damping funct ion without empirical parameters and the full result is finally applie d, with considerable success, to positron scattering from atomic targe ts including the Ps formation channel.
