Abstract
The lifetime of an atomic metastable state in a plasma is investigated analytically within the framework of the model microfield method (MMM ) for all values of the plasma and atomic parameters. The atom is mode lled by a three-level system. MMM correctly reproduces known static an d binary lifetimes parametrically and enables us to find decay rates o f the metastable state under the condition of non-binary collisions of plasma ions with the atom.
