Abstract
The effect of polymer viscoelasticity on the uniformity of layer thick ness within multilayer coextruded structures was investigated. The stu dy was carried out using a unique feedblock that produces a coextruded structure consisting of an array of 49 individual polymer strands (7 rows x 7 columns) embedded within a polymer matrix. The strands trace the flow paths within different types of dies and provide information about the movement within a flowing viscoelastic polymer stream.
