An. Goncharov et al., 2ND-ORDER ZEEMAN-EFFECT OF THE X-B TRANSITION IN MOLECULAR-IODINE, Applied physics. B, Lasers and optics, 62(4), 1996, pp. 427-430
Saturated absorption spectroscopy was applied to study the line shape
of the molecular iodine X(nu '' = 0, J '' = 13, 15) --> B(nu' = 43, J'
= 12, 16) transition (lambda = 514.5 nm) in a transversal magnetic fi
eld as high as 0.51 T. The Zeeman structure of several hyperfine struc
ture (hfs) components was completely resolved and a detailed study of
the second-order Zeeman shift and splitting was made. The anisotropic
Magnetic Susceptibility (MS) of the molecular iodine both in the B(43)
(chi' = 7.3 +/- 1 x 10(-34) J/Oe(2)) and the X(0) [chi '' = (0.6 +/-
1) x 10(-34) J/Oe(2)] states as well as the isotropic MS difference [c
hi'(0) - chi ''(0) = (2 +/- 0.2) x 10(-34) J/Oe(2)] was measured.
