C. Fulber et al., IN-SITU INVESTIGATION OF SBR VULCANIZATION - A COMBINED STUDY OF H-1-NMR AND VULCAMETRY, Colloid and polymer science, 274(3), 1996, pp. 191-196
For the first time, in situ NMR measurements were performed during sul
fur vulcanization of unfilled SBR. A vulcanization device was construc
ted for use in combination with a standard microimaging probe in a ver
tical bore NMR magnet. H-1-linewidth measurements are correlated with
cure simulations in a vulcameter to explain the increase of the linewi
dth during the vulcanization. Inhomogeneous heating conditions in the
sample result in an inhomogeneous course of the vulcanization as a fun
ction of time. The spatial dependence of this process was monitored by
NMR imaging.
