Abstract
The author honours Anna Freud in an academic speech at the University of Frankfurt. Her contribution to psychoanalytic ego psychology, her c oncept of infant development and pathology, and her modification of th e psychoanalytic technique in the treatment of severely disturbed infa nts are pointed out. Moreover, the author mentions Anna Freud's signif icance as a teacher and researcher.
