Abstract
The sponge Astrosclera willeyana contains seven new bromopyrrole alkal oids (3-9), together with the known alkaloids bromoageliferin (10) aci d dibromoageliferin (11). The structures of the new alkaloids (3-9), a geliferins that are methylated on one or both of the pyrrole nitrogens , were elucidated by interpretation of spectral data. Chemotaxonomic r elationships involving bromopyrrole alkaloids are discussed in the lig ht of this research. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
