Aims/Background-The clinical outcome of 66 consecutive infants with st
age 3 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is reported. Methods-Thirty fou
r infants (64 eyes) were treated with cryotherapy and 32 infants (59 e
yes) underwent laser photo-coagulation. Results-Infants with anterior-
mid zone II ROP had a high rate of disease regression whether treated
by cryotherapy or laser photocoagulation. Infants with posterior zone
LI or zone I ROP had a 40% success rate with cryotherapy, and 87 . 5%
when treated with laser photocoagulation. Conclusion-Evolving experien
ce and changing management policies in infants with posterior ROP has
led to improved results.
