Abstract
Close-up underwater photography and image analysis were used to quanti fy mesh occlusion by biofouling of salmon-cage netting. This technique allows fast, non-destructive sampling of cages in situ for the determ ination of temporal and spatial changes in fouling. The area of net bl ockage can be easily determined, allowing rapid evaluation of cleaning or antifouling performance.
