Schuchmanoceras hamicarinatum, a new genus and species of Albian (Earl
y Cretaceous) anisoceratid ammonite, is described on the basis of the
unique combination of a ventral keel, distinctive sculpture, and aniso
ceratid coiling. Its late Albian age is established by the contemporan
eous ammonite species Anagaudryceras buddha, Pseudouhligella japonicum
, Stoliczkaia notha, and Mesopuzosia colusaense.
