Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate by morphological appr oaches (light and electron microscopy), the effect of hyperthermic tre atment in one case of human liver metastasis. The results demonstrate that hyperthermia causes a significant reduction of the metastatic cel ls circulating into sinusoids and the ''normalization'' of the hepatoc ytes substructure. The data are consistent with a direct and/or indire ct action of the temperature on the presence of infiltrating tumor cel ls. Particular importance is attributed to a general activation of lys osomes present in neoplastic cells, Kupffer calls and hepatocytes.
