Jh. Won et al., DEPENDENCE OF CATHODOLUMINESCENCE ON IRRADIATION TIME IN DIAMOND, Physica status solidi. a, Applied research, 154(1), 1996, pp. 321-326
Time dependent cathodoluminescence (CL) measurements were performed on
natural diamond as well as both undoped and boron-doped CVD diamond f
ilms in order to study the time dependence of the different CL bands.
The 2.83 eV band, the so-called band A of diamond, was fitted well by
a hyperbola in all of the different samples. However, the 2.32 eV band
in boron-doped films was found to exhibit a different time evolution
than the 2.83 eV band in the same CVD diamond sample. The effect of te
mperature on edge emission and bound exciton recombination has also be
en studied by time dependent CL measurements. An explanation of the ex
perimental results is given in terms of different luminescence mechani
sms.
