Abstract
Synthesis of alpha-Cuparenone is described. The key step involved are photorearrangement of alpha-halo aryl ketone (4) to 1-methyl-1-(p-toly l)acetic acid (5) and extremely mild, essentially neutral, room temper ature 13-aza-claisen reaction of N-allylamide (6).
