Abstract
A method is presented for determining the surface profile of a determi nistic, perfectly conducting rough surface boundary from fixed-frequen cy scattering data. The proposed inversion scheme is based on the use of a perturbation expansion of the phase of the wave scattered from th e surface and, as such, is analogous to the use of the Rytov approxima tion in inverse scattering from penetrable scatterers. A simple algori thmic procedure is derived for determining the surface profile from th e scattering amplitude of the surface, and a number of examples illust rating the procedure are presented.
