The effect of a pulsed magnetic field upon various low-pressure plasma
jets was investigated using a system of double probes. The results in
dicated that both the electron temperature and density of plasma are i
ncreased, due to the effect of Joule heating currents induced in the p
lasma. This method provides a means of equilibrating an initial jet di
stribution of plasma that is in thermal non-equilibrium, yielding a ne
w application in plasma processing.
