The random sequential adsorption (RSA) process provides a starting poi
nt for the development of quantitative descriptions of the irreversibl
e adsorption of proteins and other large molecules. To date, none of t
he numerous theoretical and computational studies of RSA have consider
ed the effect of nonuniform aperiodic substrates which are present in
many physical systems. We study the irreversible adsorption of spheric
al particles adsorbing on randomly distributed point sites. There exis
ts an unexpected, yet simple, mapping between this process and the cor
responding adsorption on a smooth, continuous surface.
