The effects of vibration on the rheological characteristics of rapid s
trengthening magnesia phosphate based slurries and an ordinary Portlan
d cement based reference slurry determined with a rotating viscometer
incorporating an interrupted helical impeller are reported. The test p
rocedure adopted comprised measuring the effect of vibration on the st
ress response to three repetitive shear strain rate cycles undertaken
over a 15 minutes period immediately after slurry preparation. The res
ults are assessed in the context of the use of the slurry to infiltrat
e a steel fibre reinforcing array. The data presented indicates that v
ibration does not change significantly the rheological characteristics
of either type of cement. Possible explanations of these apparently a
nomalous observations are discussed.
