H. Takebe et al., COMPOSITIONAL DEPENDENCE OF OPTICAL-PROPERTIES OF ND3+ IN GALLATE GLASSES, Nippon Seramikkusu Kyokai gakujutsu ronbunshi, 104(3), 1996, pp. 243-246
The Judd-Ofelt parameters, spontaneous emission probabilities from the
F-4(3/2) level, quantum efficiency, and stimulated emission cross sec
tion of the F-4(3/2)-->I-4(11/2) transition for Nd3+ are studied for p
otassium tantalum and lead bismuth gallate glasses. The results reveal
that the tantalum gallate glasses have high Omega(2) values being com
parable to that of Ge-Ga-S glass. The lead bismuth gallate glasses hav
e high stimulated emission cross sections over 4 pm(2) because of thei
r high refractive indexes. The variations of the JO parameters with co
mposition are discussed in terms of glass structure.
