Stability constants for the proton and metal ion complexation equilibr
ia of aliphatic amino acids including alpha-alanine, valine, 2-aminope
ntanoic acid, leucine, isoleucine, 2-aminohexanoic acid and beta-alani
ne were collected and critically evaluated. Data evaluation criteria i
nvolved the specification of the essential reaction conditions, the co
rrectness of calibration techniques and calculation and the applicabil
ity of the methods used for the determination of stability constants.
Recommended values for the proton and some metal ion complexes are col
lected in separate tables. Enthalpy values published on the protonatio
n equlibria and metal ion complex formation processes of aliphatic ami
no acids were also surveyed.
