Abstract
A series of cis- and trans-2-arylcyclohexylamines were synthesized and resolved. The absolute configuration was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Some of the compounds, and especially racemic 2-(3-hy droxyphenyl)-N,N-dipropylcyclohexylamine showed a marked locomotor sti mulation in reserpinized rats. However, these compounds displayed only minor effects on dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine synthesis rates, in dicating a non-dopaminergic and/or serotonergic mechanism for this sti mulation.
