nt of internal medicine increased in 1994. Compared with previous year
s, cases increased thirteen-fold The German Black Pied bleed predomina
ted compared to the Holstein Friesian. Laboratory findings were in agr
eement with those in the published literature and a difference in seve
rity was observed between left and right displacements The sudden incr
ease in the incidence of displaced abomasum is most likely explained b
y the inappropriate introduction of complete feeding in which shorter
length forage is used.
