Abstract
The design and construction of a sequential microtitration system are reported in the present work. The combination of the sequential inject ion analysis technique and a reaction chamber is the basis of this nov el system. The reaction chamber features an integrated sensing assembl y with miniature all-solid-state sensors. This setup is operated easil y using titrant and sample solutions in the microliter range, much low er than the volumes employed in automatic titration systems. Furthermo re, a separate reaction vessel for each sample is not required in the system reported here, The proposed setup titrates using sequential inj ections and does not need calibration procedures, as often happens wit h other pseudotitration systems adapted to now systems. The sequential microtitration system has been applied to a wide range of acid-base, complexometric, precipitation, and redox titrations. Accuracy and repr oducibility of the method proposed are comparable to those obtained in batch titrations. The typical analysis time is around 5 min, The time employed in a cleaning operation or in a sample change procedure is u nder 2 min.
