Abstract
Two adult patients with upper airway obstruction due to epiglottitis a nd infectious mononucleosis requiring urgent airway management are pre sented. Successful establishment of an open airway was achieved by per forming a minitracheotomy using the Seldinger technique followed final ly with nasotracheal fibreoptic intubation.
