A. Veihelmann et al., RESTORATION OF XENOBIOTIC LIVER-METABOLIS M BY INHIBITION OF NO-SYNTHESIS IN AN ANIMAL-MODEL OF INFLAMMATORY LIVER DYSFUNCTION, Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 1996, pp. 399-402
In septic patients, inflammatory dysfunction of the liver represents a
n important therapeutic problem. In this report we demonstrate signifi
cant recovery of xenobiotic liver metabolism in an in vivo rat model w
ith inflammatory liver dysfunction, using N-Monomethyl-L-Arginine as a
nitrite-synthesis-inhibitor. As tests of hepatic function we used the
aminopyrine breath test and the metabolism of vecuronium, a clinicall
y relevant muscle relaxant.
