Abstract
We have screened primary sporadic colorectal cancers for microsatellit e instability and mutations in the DNA mismatch repair genes MSH2 and MLH1. Nine of 44 tumors showed the RER phenotype. Mutations of the MLH 1 gene were identified in four of these tumors, one of which arose in a patient, who has HNPCC at the gene level.
