The field of early intervention, which deals with unique demands, requ
ires early interventionists who can creatively resolve problems, criti
cally think about issues, and collaboratively apply concepts to meet t
he complex needs of Families. Case-study teaching fosters these same s
kills by using real problems and actual experiences. A case study is a
n in-depth description about a complicated situation that requires a d
ecision or solution. The problem, however, is that case-study teaching
is easier said than done-learning about case-study teaching is an exp
eriential process. The purposes of this article are to present a model
used to instruct workshop participants and to provide some practical
suggestions for using case-study teaching while training early interve
ntionists.
